Zeinab Bandpey Wins vCalc Award for Excellence

Banpey Is Being Honored for Her Excellent Work Creating a Calculator to Help Determine Holiday Bonuses in Iran
April 6, 2016 - vCalc, the Internet-based software company, based in Frederick, MD, that provides hundreds of unique calculators for people all over the world, is incredibly excited to announce that Zeinab Bandpey has received an Award for Excellence for her contributions to the site. Her custom calculator helps the people of Iran calculate the Holiday Award they receive each year from their employer.
In Iran, all employees receive a Holiday Bonus on No-Rooz, which is the Persian New Year and important tradition in the vernal equinox celebration. No-Rooz literally translates to "New Day" in English.
One of the factors that makes the Holiday Award so difficult to compute with a hand calculator has to do with the different amounts people receive as a government employee versus being employed with a private company. For those who are government employees, the No-Rooz bonus will always be a set amount and no calculation is actually needed. People who work for a private company generally receive two full month's pay, though a number of stipulations apply.
The amount of money received as a bonus needs to be above a minimum set by the government. It also has to be below a maximum award amount set by the government. The Holiday Award will also be given at a certain tax rate. Additionally, the total awarded sum is prorated by the number of days a person has worked for the company in a particular year. If a person only worked for a company for 182 days during a particular year, they would only receive roughly half of the amount given to someone who had been with the company from January 1 to December 31.
With Bandpey's calculator, citizens in Iran can simply input their unique monthly salary as well as the number of days that they worked during a calendar year. They can then choose whether or not they are a government employee to determine an approximate amount that they will receive as a part of their Holiday Award.
Born and raised in Iran, Zeinab Bandpey is currently completing her education as a graduate math student at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. Morgan State proudly serves the educational needs of the area as not only Maryland's designated public urban university, but also the largest HBCU (historically black college or university) in the state.
The vCalc website currently has hundreds of free calculators available for users based on more than 6000 equations and 362 data sets. More are being created daily. One of the things that makes vCalc unique is that if users cannot immediately find a calculator to fit their needs, they can easily create their own and add it to the site's robust feature set. The vCalc website also offers many advanced features like mobile device optimization, easy collaboration and social media sharing tools, the ability to create and share data sets and more.
