The mean density of a substance is the average mass (weight) of a substance in its most common form and at normal temperatures. For the purposes of this set of calculators, we will not enter the minutia of physics and chemistry and use the approximate mean densities most frequently observed in the transportation and shipping of common substances. NOTE: all value of volume and mean density should be verified elsewhere before employing these calculations for anything involving risks to life, limb or material assets.
