This collection discusses the concept of Units. It first provides you with a set of conversion calculators that will allow you to convert amounts between hundreds of combinations of units. We start with the list of calculators because the best way to understand units is to use them to compare common measurements.

Units are the gauge or measuring stick by which we compare things across the universe. Units give a measurable dimension to objects and concept and thoughts.
We naturally think in units when we say things like:
In these examples we are comparing our height, the weight of a package, the distance to a star, and the speed of a car to a standard unit. In today's word most scientific communities use the SI system of units as the standard units system.
We measure many things in our every day lives in commonly understood units: in seconds and feet and meters and pounds and kilograms and volts and amps and cubic centimeters and ...
The following table contains links to vCalc conversion calculators that allow you to enter a measurement in one unit and convert it to different units. Below each calculator link is listed the units that vCalc will handle inherently in its equations' Groovy code. So, you can build an equation that will input values in many units and use those units to compute output answers also with units.
The table lists all the units that are naturally provided with any vCalc equation. Acceleration, as an example, is represented by three units in any vCalc equation that uses acceleration as a parameter: meters/second2, foot/second2 and gravity. Note that when you use units within the Groovy code for the vCalc equation, units are represented inside the code by the abbreviation shown in parentheses below.
