Board feet (BF) is a unit of measurement used to quantify the volume of lumber. It represents a one-foot length of a board that is one foot wide and one inch thick. Formula to Calculate Board Feet:

`"Board Feet (BF)" = ("Length (in inches) x Width (in inches) x Thickness (in inches)")/(144)`

Example:

A board that is 2 inches thick, 6 inches wide, and 10 feet long would be calculated as follows:

1. Convert the length to inches: 10 feet×12 inches/foot=120 inches.
2. Apply the formula:

`BF= ("120 (Length)×6 (Width)×2 (Thickness)")/144  = 10" board feet"`
