This data set serves to manage a list of students and their grades for a variety of assignments.  This can be used with the Equation-in-Equation (EiE) lookup that is called Student Grades Lookup.

For this example data set we have recorded the letter grades for each student for a list of assignments. A numeric grade may also be associated with each assignment.  Both numeric and letter grades are provided here simply because this data set is an example and is intended to be duplicated and modified for your own specific purposes. This data set can easily be duplicated with a button push from the pull-down menu in the vCalc taxonomy, so make a copy and modify to your heart's delight!

There is a column in which you can name the assignment (row) as a String.  Name it in any way you want.  This is accompanied by a mandatory field called Weight, which contains a weighting factor for the assignment.  The weights can be chosen from the range 1 through 25, where 25 is the highest relative weight.

The successive pairs of columns are each a letter grade and a numeric grade  for each separate student.  The three data columns for each student are:

• a column with the student's name, which contains letter grades for each assignment row
• a column with the student's name followed by "(Numeric)", which contains numeric grades for each assignment row

The student's grades are recorded as letter grades and numeric grades but you could choose to record with just letter or just numeric grades.

Grading Scale

The following table lists the range and midpoint for numerical grades corresponding to a letter grade.¹  This data set is structured to hold the numeric grade, the corresponding letter grade.  Again, you could duplicate this table and have it hold either numeric or letter grades or even additional student information.
