This dataset contains characteristic data of American Wire Gauge ( AWG ) standard conductors.

The data set table provides the following:

  • wire gauge (AWG) - standard dimension and numeric designation for a wire.  The AWG identifier is derived from the cross sectional area of a wire. The range of AWG values is 1 through 40 plus (with AWG 40 being the smallest wire. An additional set of larger wires gauges are designated 0, 00, 000, and 0000.
  • diameter (inches) -- wire diameter in inches
  • diameter (millimeters) -- wire diameter in millimeters
  • turns of wire per in
  • turns of wire per cm
  • Cross-sectional area in kcmil
  • Cross sectional area in  mm2mm2
  • Copper resistance in  OhmkmOhmkm (mOhmmmOhmm)
  • Copper resistance in  OhmkftOhmkft (mOhmftmOhmft)
  • NEC Copper wire ampacity at 60 degrees
  • NEC Copper wire ampacity at 75 degrees
  • NEC Copper wire ampacity at 90 degrees
  • Fusing Current in amps required for 10 seconds
  • Fusing Current in amps required for 1 seconds
  • Fusing Current in amps required for 32 milliseconds

Description

Additional wire properties based on data gathered from a nationally recognized retailer is also available at AWG wire properties.  This data set includes pricing information on various gauges and grades of wire.
