The 60lb bags of Concrete in a Slab calculator computes the number of 60 pound bags of concrete needed for a rectangle (square) slab, footer, sidewalk, driveway or curb.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (L) Length of Slab
  • (W) Width of Slab
  • (D) Depth of Slab

60 pound bags of Concrete (nb): The calculator returns the number of 60lb bags needed for the slab.  It also returns the volume of concrete in cubic yards, and the length of the form boards needed.

  • nb - Number of 60lb bags of concrete
  • V - Total Volume of Concrete
  • FB - Length of the Form Boards
  • Wtr - Water required for mixing concrete

The Math / Science

The volume of an 60lb bag of concrete is approximately 0.45 ft3.  This calculator computes the volume of the slab in cubic feet and then divides by the cubic feet in an 60lb bag.

   nb=LWD0.45ft3nb=LWD0.45ft3

where:

  • nb = number of 60lb bags
  • L = length of slab
  • W = width of slab
  • D = depth of slab
