The PowerBall equation generates six random numbers for a Powerball play. It generates five white number plus a sixth Powerball red number. (The possibility of drawing all six winning numbers in one draw: 1 out of 292201338).
You can repeatedly generate new sets of Powerball numbers by clicking the recompute button to the left of the output field.
In the official Powerball, the first five numbers correspond to five white balls drawn. The sixth number corresponds to the red ball drawn.
In the Powerball game the first five numbers are drawn from the same drum, so none of the five draws can be the same number for a given play. The five "white" numbers must be unique numbers drawn from balls in the drum numbered from 1 through 69 inclusive. The Red PowerBall is drawn from a separate drum containing 26 balls, and the numbers are 1 through 26 inclusive. So, there are 69 white balls in the first drum and 26 red balls in the second drum.
The Red Powerball number is drawn from an independent set of balls, so it's probability is independent of the numbers drawn in the five white balls. The Red ball thus can be the same number as one of the white balls, as occurred on 26 June 2013 when the numbers were WHITE: 1, 18, 33, 39, 46 and Red: 33.
