Cone - Height

The Height of a Cone formula Cone  ( h = 3V / πr² ) computes the height (h) of a cone with a circular base with a radius (r) and a Volume (V).

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

• (V) Volume of Cone
• (r) Radius of Base

Height of Cone (h): The calculator returns the height of the cone in meters.  However, this can be automatically converted to other length units (e.g. inches) via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

This is a variation on the formula for the Volume of a Cone. 

The formula for the height of a cone is:

`h = (3 * V)/(pi * r^2)`

where:

• h = height of the cone
• V = volume of cone
• r = radius of base of cone
