Molarity is the number of moles of solute dissolved in one liter of solution. The molarity units, therefore, are moles per liter. Specifically it's moles of solute per liter of solution.

The molar concentration,or molarity, Ci is defined as the amount of a constituent Ni (usually measured in moles – hence the name) divided by the volume, V, of the mixture.
