Lip and Skin Butter Salve helps moisturize and protect against cracked or dry lips or skin. This equation aims to help in the Lip and Skin Butter preparation by calculating the ratios needed to make the salve given the knowledge of a certain amount of ingredient (from the list below) on hand.
Almond Oil (20 oz)
Typical of nuts and seeds, almonds contain phytosterols such as beta-sitosterol, stigmasterol, campesterol, sitostanol, and campestanol, which have been associated with cholesterol-lowering properties.
Anhydrose Lanolin (1/2 lb or 8 oz)
Lanolin that contains not more than 0.25% of water; used as a water-adsorbable ointment base.
Glycerin (8 oz)
Glycerin is a neutral, sweet-tasting, colorless, thick liquid which freezes to a gummy paste and which has a high boiling point.
Beeswax (3 3/4 oz)
Purified and bleached beeswax is used in the production of food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. The three main types of beeswax products are yellow, white, and beeswax absolute. Yellow beeswax is the crude product obtained from the honeycomb, white beeswax is bleached yellow beeswax, and beeswax absolute is yellow beeswax treated with alcohol. Beeswax never goes bad and can be heated and reused.A German study found beeswax to be superior to similar barrier creams (usually mineral oil-based creams such as petroleum jelly), when used according to its protocol.
Essential Oil (5-10 drops)
For fragrance.
Stir the pot frequently and pour as quickly as reasonable. If you take too long the lanolin and glycerin may begin to separate.
