Biodiesel from Soybeans

The Math / Science

A recent study indicates that one acre of soybeans can produce 66 gallons of bio-diesel.  The formula for the volume of bio-diesel fuel from an amount of acreage is :

V = a • gpa 

where:

• V is the volume of bio-diesel produced on an amount of farmland
• a is the acres in soybeans
• gpa is the bio-diesel production rate for soybean volume per acre (default of 66 gallons / acre)
