The Standard Reference Method (SRM) value is computed by measuring the attenutation of light of 430nm wavelength (430 nm) passing through 1 cm of a beer. This scales the absorption by a constant (12.7 for SRM; 25 for EBC). The SRM value represents a single point in the absorption spectrum of beer.
To reppresent the full definition of a beer would require 81 points.
