Surface Area (A): The calculator returns the surface area (A) in square meters.  However, this can be automatically converted to other area units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The formula for the surface area of a cylinder is:

     A = 2•π•r•h + 2•π•r²

where:

The area includes both the side of the cylinder and the top and bottom of the cylinder.
