The Bio-diesel from Rapeseed or Canola calculator computes the amount of bio-diesel fuel produced by an area (a) of land planted in Rapeseed or Canola.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (a) This is the area or amount of land planted in rapeseed or canola
  • (gpa) This is the gallons of bio-diesel per acre production

Bio-diesel Volume (V):  The calculator returns the volume in gallons.  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

A recent study indicates that one acre of rapeseed and canola can produce between 75 and 240 gallons of bio-diesel.  The formula for the volume of bio-diesel fuel from an amount of acreage is :

V = a • gpa
