The Quilt Block 1 calculator computes the size of each of the pieces of fabric needed to create the quilt block pictured. in Figure 1.

Description
Enter the overall width of the whole pattern desired and the equation will calculate the length of the following shapes:
small squares (denoted SS in the output),
large squares (denoted LS in the output),
rectangles ( denoted R in the output) , and
triangles (denoted T in the output).
Usage
In order to make this pattern, the following number of shapes need to be cut for each fabric.

8 Triangles of fabric 1 from four squares (`T_"C1"`)
4 Rectangles of fabric 1 from two squares (`R_"C1"`)
16 Small Squares of fabric 1 (`SS_"C1"`)
Fabric 2
5 * Large Squares of fabric 2 (`LS_"C2"`)

Example on how to cut shapes from a piece of fabric*
Default
[Example 15 inch block] The default input for this equation is 15 inches, :
SS = 2.000 in | LS = 3.500 in | RW = 2.000 in | RL = 3.500 in | T (cut diagonal) = 3.875 in
This means:
the small squares (SS) are 2 inches wide. 16 small squares (2 inches by 2 inches) of fabric 1 and fabric 2 will need to be cut.
the large squares (LS) are 3.5 inches wide. 5 large squares (3.5 inches by 3.5 inches) of fabric 2 will need to be cut.
the rectangle width (RW) is 2 inches and the rectangle length is 3.5 inches. 4 rectangle (2 inches by 3.5 inches) of fabric 1 and fabric 4 will need to be cut.
the triangles are cut from a square that is 3.875 or (3 7/8) inches on each side. Cut 4 squares (3 7/8 inches by 3 7/8 inches) of fabric 1 and fabric 3 will need to be cut. Then cut each square in half along its diagonal to produce 8 triangles of fabric 1 and fabric 3.
