The Undamped Natural Circular Frequency calculator compute the frequency (ωn) based on the acceleration due to gravity (g) and the static deflection (δsd).

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose the preferred units and enter the following:

  • (δsd)  Static Deflection

Undamped Natural Circular Frequency (ωn): The calculator returns the frequency in units of per_seconds.  However, this can be automatically converted to other frequency units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

Undamped Natural Circular Frequency (ωn) is computed with the following equation:

           ωn = gδsd

where:

The natural frequency is the rate at which an object vibrates when it is not disturbed by an outside force.  The input to this equation is the static deflection distance, δ.
