This equation computes the expected number of units in the queue, `L_q`,  for the case of a single server model (s = 1) with exponential service time, M = `oo`

`L_q`  = `lambda^2`/ [`mu`(`mu - lambda`)] , where

  • `mu` = mean service rate
  • `lambda` = mean arrival rate
