Quality of Service
Levels of quality of service and the appropriate percentage of the bill used for calculating the TIP.
- Terrible: 0%
- Very Bad: 1%
- Bad: 5%
- Below Average: 10%
- Average: 15% (Default and customary TIP in the U.S.)
- Very Good: 20% (Customary for good service in groups larger than 8 people)
- Excellent: 25%
- Outstanding: 40%
Quality of Service is a measure of the performance of the waiter or waitress. Descriptive words to consider in Quality of Service are:

- Attentive
- Pleasant
