The learning curve captures the relationship between task performance and task repetition. In general. as output doubles the-unit production time will be reduced to some fixed percentage. the learning curve percentage or learning curve rate.  This equation uses the learning curve to calculate a time estimation for completion of some number of repetitive tasks.

TNTN          = time requirement for the Nth unit of production

TinitialTinitial  = time req. for the initial unit of production

NN           = number of completed unts (cumulative production)

 b             = learning curve exponent    where:

           b = log(learning curve as decimal)log2.0log(learning curve as decimal)log2.0
