The Weight of Aluminum Rounds calculator computes the average weight of aluminum round bars based on the number and dimensions of the bar, and an average density of 2700 kg/m3 for aluminum bars.https://www.vcalc.com/attachments/ab010856-fb9d-11eb-993a-bc764e203090/roundbars.jpg

INSTRUCTIONS: Enter the following:

  • (n) Number of bars
  • (L) Length of the bars
  • (D) Diameter of the bars
  • (ρ) Density of metal

Weight of Aluminum Round (M): The function returns the weight in pounds. However this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

Aluminum is widely used for fabrication projects where lightweight and corrosion resistance is a concern. It is generally regarded as an excellent material for welding, good for machining or grinding, and poor for bending or forming.

The formula for the weight of metal bars is as follows:

         M = ρ • n • π • (D/2)2 • L

where:

  • M is the mass or weight of metal bars
  • ρ is the density of the metal
  • n is the number of bars
  • D is the diameter of the bars
  • L is the length of the bars
