The Quantisation of Electric Charge calculator computes the charge (q) based on the charge of an electron (e) and the number of electrons (n).

INSTRUCTIONS: Enter the following:

  • (n) This is the number of electrons.

Quantization of Electric Charge (q): The calculator returns the charge in coulombs (C).  However this can be converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math  / Science

The electric charge of any system is a multiple of least amount of charge.  The least amount of charge is the charge of a single electron (e), which is 1.6pC.

The formula for the Quantisation of Electric Charge is:

       q = n • e
