The Subtract Percentage calculator subtracts (discounts) a specified percentage, y, from an original amount, x.

Instructions:

Insert the desired value for x, the original amount to be decreased by a percentage
Insert the desired value for y, the additional percentage to decrease x
The result will then be returned

EXAMPLE:

If you have some value you want to decrease by a percentage, you are in essence performing the following:

Result = $x - (\frac{y}{100} \cdot x)$ $x - (y/100 * x)$ = $x \cdot (1 - \frac{y}{100})$ $x * (1 - y/100)$

As an example 22,606 discounted by 8.5% would be:

Result = $22606 \cdot (1 - \frac{8.5}{100})$ $22606 * (1 - 8.5/100)$ = $22606 \cdot 0.915$ $22606 * 0.915$ = 20684.49
