The Volume of a Sphere from the Surface Area calculator computes the volume (V) based on the surface area of a sphere (SA)./attachments/cc706af3-edb4-11e7-abb7-bc764e2038f2/SphereVolume-illustration.png  Geometric Sphere

INSTRUCTIONS:  Choose units and enter the following:

  • (SA) Volume of the Sphere.

Sphere Volume (V): The Volume of the Sphere (V) is returned in cubic meters.  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units the pull-down menu.

The Math

The equation for the surface area of a sphere is as follows:

          SA = 4 π  r²

If we solve for the radius (r), we have the formula in this calculator:

            r=SA4π

Now use the radius (r) in the formula for the volume of a sphere:

            v=43πr3

            v=43π(SA4π)3
