Cost to Drywall a Room (walls and ceiling)

The Cost to Drywall a Room calculator computes an estimated cost of drywall to cover the interior walls and ceiling of a rectangular room based on the room's length, width and height, the size of the drywall boards (4x8 or 4x12) and the unit price of the wall boards (gypsum).   Drywall in a room

Cost to Drywall a Room (TC): The calculator computes the total surface area of the room (CLICK HERE) and number of required sheets, and uses the unit price per sheet (see Drywall Pricing below) to compute the total cost in U.S. dollars.

The Math / Science

The calculator computes the surface are of the interior of the room, and then divides by the are of the chosen wall boards (4x8 or 4x12).  It rounds up by one unless the area is with 1%.  Note, this calculator assumes that the ceiling and walls are covered with the same priced drywall.  In some cases, walls are covered with thicker drywall (e.g., 5/8") to provide strength, where ceilings are covered in 1/2".  In this case, calculate the costs of the walls and ceiling seprately.
