Torus - Surface Area

The Surface Area of a Torus calculator  computes the surface area of a torus (circular tube) based on an inner radius of (a) and an outer radius of (b).

INSTRUCTIONS:  Choose units and enter the following

• (a) - inner radius of the torus
• (b) - outer radius of the torus

Torus Surface Area (A): The calculator returns the surface area in square meters.  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The formula for the surface area of a torus is:

     `A = pi^2 * (b-a)^2`

where;

• A = surface area of the torus
• a = inner radius of the torus
• b = outer radius of the torus
