The Lifestyle Metabolic Rate calculator estimates the metabolic rate of an individual based on the frequency of exercise, height, weight, age and gender of an individual.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
Lifestyle Metabolic Rate (MR): The rate is returned in food calories (kcal) per day.
The formula for Lifestyle Metabolic Rate for WOMEN is:
MR = LF *(655 + (4.35 * WT) + (4.7 * H) - (4.7 * A)
The formula for Lifestyle Metabolic Rate for MEN is:
MR = LF * (66 + (6.23 * WT) + (12.7 * H) - (6.8 * A)
where:
IF you get: little to no exercise -- Multiply BMR by 1.2; if you exercise 1 to 3 days a week -- Muliply BMR by 1.375; if you exercise 3 to 5 days a week -- Multiply BMR by 1.55; if you exercise 6 to 7 days a week -- Multiply BMR by 1.725; if you have a physically demanding job and/or are in fitness training -- Multiply BMR by 1.9 For women: BMR = 655 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years). For men, BMR = 66 + (6.23 x weight in pounds) + (12.7 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age in years). Result are in calories. This is the caloric intake that will keep your weight the same. If you burn more than this number of calories you will loose weight. If you eat more calories than this, you will gain weight. *** Notice this doesn't say anything about taking any kind of supplements or any other factors. Weight loss / gain is about calories in versus calories out or what you eat minus what you burn.
