This equation computes the force of fluid resistance experienced by a body moving through a fluid at a high speed.  At high speed the resistance force of the fluid is proportional to the body's speed squared and the drag coefficient, D, is dependent on the object's shape, the object's size, and the density of the fluid.

Inputs are:

  • D - the drag coefficient
  • - the velocity of the object moving relative to the fluid.
