The Net Force calculator computes the net force based on the mass of an object, its change in velocity and the distance related to the change in velocity.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (m) This is the mass of the object
  • (s) This is the displacement
  • (v2) This is the end velocity
  • (v1) This s the initial velocity

Net Force (F): The calculator returns the net force in newtons.  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math Science

The formula for the Net Force based on change in velocity over a distance is:

     F=mv22-v122s

where:

  • F is the Net Force
  • m is the mass of the object
  • s is the total displacement
  • v2 is the initial velocity
  • v1 is the final velocity
