This equation pertains to heat transfer phenomena at a boundaries. A particular case of this heat transfer occurs a the surface of turbulent flow through circular tubes. The Nusselt number (Nu) is defined as the ratio of convective to conductive heat transfer at (normal to) these boundaries.
