Renal Blood Flow [RPF2]

`RBF = [( U_"PAH" * V_U ) / ( "RA"_"PAH" - "RV"_"PAH" )] / (1 - "HCT" )`
`"Hematocrit"`
`"Concentration of PAH in Urine"`
`"Concentration of PAH in Artery"`
`"Concentration of PAH in Vein"`
`"Volumetric Flow Rate of Urine"`

This equation computes the renal blood flow, RBF, from the renal plasma flow (as computed via the equation-in-equation for RPF2) and the volume percentage or red blood cells (the hematocrit)..

Inputs to this equation are:

  • U_"PAH" - the urine concentration of para-aminohuippurate in the urine sample
  • `V_U` = volumetric flow rate of urine
  • `RA_"PAH"` - the arterial concentration of para-aminohuippurate (PAH)
  • `RV_"PAH"` - the venal concentration of para-aminohuippurate (PAH)
  • HCT - the hematrocrit, also known as the packed cell volume (PCV) and the erythrocyte volume fraction (EVF)
