A 2x6 lumber is wood that is nominally 2 inches thick and 6 inches wide. However, the actual dimensions are slightly smaller due to the milling process such that a 2x6 board has a thickness of 1.5" and a width of 5.5".  The lengths of 2x6s varies, but 8 foot and 10 foot are common.

2x6 boards are commonly used in construction projects, including:
