As a Chief Software Engineer at vCalc, I work with the rest of our great team of software engineers to build and improve vCalc. I love working at vCalc because, as both a software engineer and a mathematician, I can combine two of my favorite interests, and more importantly, help make both fields more accessible to the world.
I bring to vCalc my broad experience in both technical and business domains. I co-founded and was Chief Software Architect at Pipfrog AS, a leading eCommerce platform for free and low-cost, highly-customizable webshops. Pipfrog's sale in 2012 was recently recognized by Äripäev, Estonia's leading business journal, as one of Estonia's most noteworthy IT sales.
After Pipfrog, I have concentrated professionally in mathematical areas. With Cooke Street Laboratories, I developed innovative screening algorithms for sleep study data. These algorithms detected and predicted characteristics of central and mixed sleep apnea, such as arousals and periodic breathing, based on digital signal processing of polysomnographic data. I also founded BaseballCodex, a unique mathematical and technological experiment in deriving aggregate baseball statistics from pitch-by-pitch datafeeds.
I live in Tallinn, Estonia, where I love the summers and barely tolerate the winters. When not wrangling bytes for vCalc, I occupy myself with travel, baseball, knot-tying, camping, cooking, and reading.
I hope you find vCalc helpful in your work and recreation, and I encourage you to contact us with any suggestions you have for us!
