`P = ( "n" *"R"* "T" )/ "v" `
`(n)"Moles (Amount of Gas)"`
`(T)"Temperature of Gas"`
`(V)"Volume of Gas"`

The Ideal Gas Law for Pressure calculator computes the pressure (P) of a gas based on the temperature (T), volume (V) and number of moles (n) using the Ideal Gas Law and the universal gas constant (R) .

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (n) Moles (amount of substance or gas)
  • (T) Temperature
  • (V) Volume

Gas Pressure (P):  The calculator returns the pressure in pascals (Pa).  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The ideal gas law  is the equation of state of a hypothetical ideal gas. It is a good approximation to the behavior of many gases under many conditions.  The ideal gas law is often represented in its common form:

                             PV = nRT

where:

This calculator solves the Ideal Gas Law equation for pressure (P).
