The Pulse Pressure calculator computes the pulse pressure based on the Systolic and Diastolic pressures.
INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:
Pulse Pressure (PP): The pressure is returned in millimeters of mercury (mmHg). However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.
Pulse pressure (PP) is a measure of the difference between the systolic and diastolic pressures. The formula for pulse pressure is:
PP = SP - DP
Where:
Example: 110/68
110 is the systolic or top number
68 is the diastolic or bottom number
The systolic number reflects the pressure on the heart as it is contracting. The diastolic number reflects the pressure on the heart while at rest.
