This Wedding Budget Calculator is used to compute the estimated costs of doing a wedding. The calculator is very helpful and an informative tool that couples can use as a checklist for their wedding budget.

Wedding Tradition

A wedding is a celebration event whereby two people are united in marriage by exchanging wedding vows in the presence of an officiant and loved ones i.e. family, friends, and other guests.  Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes. However, there are similarities that cut across all these traditions and customs including the need for a bride's wedding dress (e.g. a white dress and veil which symbolize sexual purity), wedding rings (especially in Europe and America , symbolizing the connectedness of the couple), the groom's tuxedo, a wedding cake, food and drinks for the guests, etc.  

Wedding Activities

A wedding ceremony is often followed by a wedding reception whereby there is dancing, singing, and other merry-making activities. At the reception, food and drinks are served to guests who also present their gifts to the couple. The wedding reception could either be in-door or out-door depending on several factors, for example the prevailing weather or season.

The couple's choice of the type of wedding ceremony and wedding reception has significant repercussions in terms of costs. Other choices that affect the general wedding cost include the expected number of invited guests, the menu to be served, the quality expected from service providers, whether you are buying the wedding attire for the bridesmaids and groomsmen, room and accommodation for some guests, etc.  All these costs have been lumped into 4 categories that form the four main wedding equations:

This wedding calculator has been built based on wedding budget estimates of several previous weddings that cut across cultures and traditions. The calculator is intended to help couples to compute the costs to be incurred in their wedding. That notwithstanding, there are other hidden costs that couples planning their wedding should pay attention to, which would otherwise escalate the total cost of their wedding. These include costs associated with obtaining permits (e.g. noise, park or entry permits ), extra hours costs (e.g. extra hours spent on the wedding venue, by the officiant,  by the wedding band, or other vendors), alteration costs (e.g. altering the wedding dress), vendors meals, clean-up costs, evening party, taxes and tips.
