Blood Volume in a Human

The Blood Volume in a Human calculator estimates the blood volume (BV) of a human based on their weight (mass).

Blood Volume (BV):   The calculator returns the volume in milliliters (ml).  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The volume of blood in a person is computed using the ratio of blood per kilogram (75 ml/kg).  The formula for volume of blood in a human is:

    BV = wt • bpk

where:

• BV is the blood volume of a human
• wt is their weight converted into kilograms
• bpk is the blood per kilogram
