The Density of a Cube calculator computes the density of a cube based on the length of a side (s) and the mass (m). /attachments/d541928f-ce05-11e7-abb7-bc764e2038f2/CubeWeight-illustration.png a cube

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (s)  This is the length of a side of the cube (see diagram)
  • (m)  This is the mass of the cube.

Density of a Cube (rho): The calculator returns the density in grams per cubic centimeter. However, this can be automatically converted to other density units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The formula for the density of a cube based on the length of the sides is:

   ρ = m / s³

where:

This formula computes the volume of the geometric shape (cube) based on the input parameters.  With the computed volume, this formula then executes the simple equation below to compute the approximate density of the object.

density =  volume / mass
