The Quonset Hut Volume calculator computes the interior volume of a Quonset Hut based on simple measurements. Common Quonset HutSee YouTube video instructions on this formula HERE.
INSTRUCTIONS: The Quonset Hut Volume calculator computes the volume of the Quonset Hut based on the following parameters:
Quonset Hut Volume (V):The calculator returns the volume in cubic feet, surface area in square feet and the floor-space in square feet. It also returns the linear dimension of the arc of the roof (AL) in feet. However these can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.
The calculator assumes that the face of the Quonset hut is an ellipse or circle if 2H = W. It computes the facial area (A) using one half of the area of an ellipse with H being one semi-axis and W/2 as the other. With that area (A) and the length (L), the volume is as follows:
V = A * L
The volume calculation is a simple computation using the lateral area of the green house defined by the semicircle of radius H times the (L) the length. The default input units are feet, and the calculator returns cubic feet. However, vCalc lets the user can choose one of many length and volume units for automatic conversion from the pull-down list for both the input length units and the output volume units.
The volume of a Quonset Hut is useful in many ways. It is most often needed for calculating the heating and moisture (humidity) needs of the Quonset Hut .
