The Average Acceleration calculator computes the average acceleration base on two observations of velocities (v₂ and v₁) and the time between the measurements (Δt).

• (V₂) Final Velocity
• (V₁) Initial Velocity
• (Δt) Time between two observations

Average Acceleration (a): The calculator returns the acceleration (a) in meters per second squared. However, this can be automatically converted to other acceleration units via the pull-down menu.

The Math

The formula for average acceleration is:

 a = (V₂ - V₁)/(Δt)

where:

• a = average acceleration
• V₂ = final velocity
• V₁ = initial velocity
• Δt = time between initial and final velocity

This is a form of the acceleration equation:

• a = ΔV / Δt
