Force (pressure)

The Force from Pressure on an Area calculator computes the force (F) produced by a pressure (P) exerted on a surface area (A).

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose the preferred units and enter the following:

• (P)  This is the pressure
• (A)  This is the area

Force (F): The calculator returns the force (F) in newtons (N).  However, this can be automatically converted to other force units via the pull-down menu.

The formula for force based on pressure and area is:

        F = P • A

where:

• F is the force created by pressure over an area
• P is the pressure
• A is the area
