V=nRTP
(n)Moles
(T)Temperature
(P)Pressure

The Ideal Gas Law for Volume calculator computes the volume (V) of a gas based on the pressure (P), temperature (T) and number of moles (n) using the Ideal Gas Law and the universal gas constant (R) .

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (n) Moles (amount of substance)
  • (P) Pressure
  • (T) Tmperature

Gas Volume (V):  The calculator returns the volume in cubic meters.  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The ideal gas law  is the equation of state of a hypothetical ideal gas. It is a good approximation to the behavior of many gases under many conditions.  The ideal gas law is often represented in its common form:

                             PV = nRT

where:

This calculator solves the Ideal Gas Law equation for volume(V).
