The Ideal Body Weight for Children under 1 is used to estimate the weight of children in circumstances (such as emergencies) when actual weight cannot be measured.

The Math / Science

The Leffler formula is used for children under 1 year old:

`m=1/2a_m+4`

where:

  • `a_m` = age in months
