The Pitch to Angle calculator returns the angle based on a chosen pitch. 

INSTRUCTIONS: Enter the following:

  • (P) Pitch Angle (rise over run)

Angle (Θ): The calculator returns the angle in degrees.  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The formula for the angle based on the pitch is:

      Θ = atan( rise / run)

where

  • Θ = angle
  • rise = vertical measurement
  • run = horizontal measurement
