The Power Consumption calculator computes power consumed over a period of time based on base power unit and time period and the duration of consumption .

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (PU) Power Unit
  • (TU) Time Unit
  • (CD) Consumption Duration

Power Consumption (PwR): The power is returned in kilowatts.  However, these can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The Power Consumption formula is a simple rate formula as follows:

PwR = (PU / TU) * CD

where:

  • PwR = Power consumed over the period at the specified rate
  • PU = Power per Unit Time
  • TU = Unit of Time
  • CD = Consumption Duration.

NOTES

The typical SI units typically employed in this equation are:

Power(Watts)=Potential (Volts)Current-I( Amperes)
