Price of Sand

The Price of Sand calculator computes the total price of a volume (V) of sand based on the cost per ton.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

• (V) Volume of Sand (e.g. 4 cubic yards)
• (uP) Unit Price for a ton of sand 

Total Cost of Sand (TCS): The calculator returns the total cost in U.S. dollars.  However, this can be automatically converted to other currency units via the pull-down menu.

Sand Calculators

• Density of Sand: Returns the density of sand based on the condition of sand (wet/dry loose/packed).
• Weight of Sand: Estimates the mass or weight of sand based on the volume of sand and the condition of sand (wet/dry loose/packed).

The Math / Science

Cost of sand is based the tons that you order.  However, you don't know the tons.  You've measured the volume that you need, the number of cubic yards.  The formula to compute the cost of sand is:

    `TCS = V * rho * uP`

where:

• TCS = Total cost of sand
• `rho` = density of sand (2200 lbs per cubic yard)
• uP = Unit Price per ton
