The Time to Install PVC 40 Conduit calculator estimates the amount of time needed to install PVC 40 Conduit based on the length of the conduit (L), the Level of Difficulty (lvl) and the size (S) of the conduit.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose units and enter the following:

  • (S)  Size of PVC Conduit (choose from pull-down list)
  • (L)  Length of PVC Conduit
  • (LvL) Level of Difficulty (choose level 1,2,3 or 4 from pull-down list)

PVC 40 Conduit Install Time (t): The calculator returns the install time in hours.  However this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

PVC is the abbreviation for Polyvinyl Chloride.  PVC is the a widely used synthetic material used in many products including pipes.  There are two main types of PVC pipes, regular PVC and CPVC which has better properties for handling higher temperatures.  PVC Pipes are also characterized by their thickness which is indexed by schedule, where schedule 40 is PVC with thinner walls and schedule 80 has thicker walls.  The relationship between length of conduit, size of PVC, level of complexity and the time to install comes from industry standard numbers.  The table above is the basis of this calculator and it shows the installation time in hours per 100 feet.

Electrician Estimation Calculators

Installation Time Estimates

Conduit Weight Estimates

  • EMT Conduit Weight: Estimate the weight of Electrical Metallic Tubing based on the size of the tubing and the length.
  • GRC Conduit Weight: Estimate the weight of Galvanized Rigid Conduit based on the size and length of the conduit.
  • PVC Schedule 40 Weight: Estimate the weight of Schedule 40 PVC based on the size, length and whether it is PVC or CPVC.
  • Metal Clad Cable Weight: Estimate the weight of metal clad cable based on the size and the length.

Wiring and Box Estimates

  • Outlets and Wiring for a RoomDomestic wiring color code diagramComputes the number of outlets (boxes) and length of wire to connect them in a room based on the room dimensions and the outlet spacing.
