The Pump Cylinder Diameter calculator computes the functional cylinder diameter based on the stroke length and volume displacement of one stroke in a pump.

INSTRUCTIONS:  Choose units and enter the following:/attachments/9a52caab-1019-11e8-abb7-bc764e2038f2/PumpCylinder.png

  • (L) Stroke Length of Pump Cylinder
  • (V) Volume Displacement of One Stroke of the cylinder of the pump

Pump Cylinder Diameter (D):  The calculator returns the diameter in inches.  However this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

The formula for the displacement volume of a cylinder in a pump is:

             V = π•(D/2)²•L

where:

This calculator has the above formula solved for the pump cylinder diameter:

         `D = 2•sqrt(V/(L•π))`
