The Triangle Volume calculator computes the volume of a triangular /attachments/e8557ebc-f17a-11e3-b7aa-bc764e2038f2/TrianglarVolume-illustration.png  Triangular Volume shaped object (such as a prism) given the length the triangle's three sides and the height (h) of the area.

INSTRUCTIONSChoose units and enter the following:

  • (a) Length Side a
  • (b) Length Side b
  • (c) Length Side c
  • (h) Height of Triangular Shape

Triangle Volume (V): The volume is returned in cubic meters.  However, this can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.

The Math / Science

Volume of a uniformed shaped object such as an octagon column is derived by the following formula:

       Volume = Area * Height

Where the Area of Triangle based on the length of three sides is:

`Area = sqrt((a+b+c)/2((a+b+c)/2-a)((a+b+c)/2-b)((a+b+c)/2-c))`

where:

  • a, b, c are the length of the three sides
