The Rectangle Swimming Pool Water Capacity and Time to Fill calculator determines the water Volume Capacity (V) in gallons (gal.) of a rectangular pool given the Length (L), Width (W) and Depth (Dp) of the pool. It also returns the approximate time to fill based on the garden hose flow rate.
INSTRUCTIONS: Enter the following:
Volume Capacity (V): The calculator returns the volume of water in gallons and liters. The calculator also returns the estimated time to fill in hours. However, these can be automatically converted to compatible units via the pull-down menu.
This calculator determines the amount of water at a constant depth of a rectangular swimming pool, multiplying the volume in cubic feet times 7.5 gallons (gal.) because there are 7.5 gallons of water in 1 cubic foot.
The formula for the capacity of an rectangular shaped pool is:
`V = L*W*wD`
where:
The time to fill the pool is based on the range of flow rate for garden hoses of between 9 gallons per minute to 17 gallons per minute. A default of 12 gallons per minute is provided. This should be used as an estimate.
